Strategic Objectives of Research
Property research is the backbone of the firm’s brand and is what its reputation is built on. It is used to drive business development activity and is how Farebrother differentiates itself from its competitors.
Research is not considered to be a business support function at Farebrother but an integral part of our service offering to clients and as a result, the Head of Research works very closely with the senior management and the marketing team to deliver reliable and innovative research on the Midtown and South Bank property markets. The researcher is responsible for the production of high quality written quarterly and bi-annual market reports / detailed presentations for dissemination to our distribution lists and at highly regarded and well attended research presentations.
Preparation and publication of quarterly property research reports and presentations based on the data gathered through a variety of industry data sources and the firm’s extensive in-house knowledge.
Working with the surveying teams (office agency, investment, lease advisory, occupier services and retail) on client related business development opportunities.
Taking ownership of specific projects to support the ongoing delivery of the firm’s strategic objectives.
Maintenance of research databases and building these up based on internal and external sources. This involves collating and checking desk top research (EGi, Focus, Media) with Farebrother / Union Street Partners intelligence and their own primary research.
Key required skills
Experience of the research function within the London property Market.
Proficient use of IT packages such as Excel, Access, SharePoint, MySQL.
An aptitude for data preparation and analysis; focused and capable at effectively and efficiently completing assignments with a high level of attention to detail.
Tenacity in sourcing, validating and recording information from a wide range of sources including specialist third party published data sets, publically available marketing literature, local authority planning databases plus telephone surveying of developers and surveyors.
