18 July 2017
Mobile marketplace app, Mercari, has taken space for its new London HQ at The Record Hall in Farringdon and set a new rental high for the location. Farebrother were letting agents.
Developed by Workspace, the 60,000 sq ft building is located in Leather Lane close to Farringdon underground and rail station.
Mercari is the world’s biggest and fastest growing community-powered mobile marketplace and will pay £80 per sq ft – a new rental high for the location – for 3,655 sq ft on the fifth floor of the building.
Charles Thompson, Leasing & Development Partner – commented: “There are a growing number of digital businesses being attracted to Farringdon and it is an ideal location for Mercari – especially as next year’s opening of the Elizabeth Line will transform the connectivity of Farringdon Station”.
After launching in 2013, Mercari became Japan’s No 1 mobile marketplace, garnering over 60m downloads in Japan and the US. It is now expanding into Europe and when launched in March immediately became the most downloaded app at the UK App Store.
