Farebrother has appointed Charlie Thompson as its new Managing Partner as it cements its succession plans

February 2022

Farebrother has appointed a new Managing Partner as it cements its succession plans.

As part of those plans, current Senior Partner Alistair Subba Row becomes Executive Chairman and Charlie Thompson takes up the position of Managing Partner. Between them, the duo - two of the best-known operators in the London office market - have clocked up over 55 years at the firm, which advises clients across the capital.

The 6 February was an important date in the UK for more than one reason, as not only did it mark the Queen’s 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne but it is the same day Charles Farebrother began his working life in London’s Fleet Street. Our firm, which still carries his name today, is celebrating our 223rd anniversary and we retain our independent status.

Farebrother act for a wide variety of Estates, institutions, funds, property companies as well as private and international investors. The sale of The Rolls Building in Fetter Lane, Weston House on High Holborn and the acquisition of a share of Mid City Place are three trophy investments the firm have been involved in.

Strategic advice through internal evidence-backed research lies at the core of our business. Lettings at Victoria House, Aldwych House, 1 Kingsway, Fetter Yard and numerous Estates have benefited from Farebrother advice. Equally the firm has a strong track record for advising many occupiers including charities and professional practices across London.

Charlie Thompson said: “Our advisory track record stretches beyond Midtown but it’s a part of London we love and know better than anyone else. We firmly believe that there is a place for the global and niche advisors to work alongside each other. The transaction figures speak volumes even during recent times. I’m excited about the market and taking the firm forward."

"We have been innovative partners in the built environment for over 200 years. We have some exciting joint ventures with Union Street Partners, Tandem Property Asset Management and Square One Real Estate. We have also immersed ourselves into the development of (Midtown) Business Improvement Districts for over two decades and just look at the area now."

Subba Row added: “We pride ourselves in careful succession planning and the timing of the change is right. I’m really excited to be working with Charlie and the team going forward. Whilst continuing to advise our clients across many areas I will also help develop the local BIDs especially the Fleet Street BID which is the last piece of the Centre of London’s regeneration jigsaw puzzle."
